Day 232: Rehoboam rules over Judah | 1 Corinthians 14: Spiritual gifts to help the Church

Day 232 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. 2 Chronicles 10-12 tells the story of Rehoboam, Solomon's son, who ignores wise counsel, causing Israel to rebel. The kingdom divides, and Rehoboam strengthens Judah's defenses but later forsakes God's law. Shishak of Egypt attacks, and Rehoboam humbles himself, averting total destruction. In 1 Corinthians, Paul encourages believers to pursue love and seek gifts that build up the church, especially prophecy. He contrasts speaking in tongues without interpretation, which edifies oneself, with prophecy that edifies the church. Paul stresses that understanding is crucial for the benefit of all.
